Today we celebrated the grand life of Larry Barnett and tomorrow we lay him to rest. To all who knew him, he was a blessing. He may have been disappointed that they closed the store for the occasion, but just this once he doesn’t have a say.

We will miss you for the rest of our lives, Larry! Thanks for always making us laugh. 🤍

She was all smiles until she held the sonogram and realized what “big sister” really means. 😅

@love_caro_hsv made us the CUTEST big sister sweatshirt to tell our Mimi about baby brother over the winter holiday. We couldn’t let it just be used once. So we had @simplysouthernphotographybyal take a few pictures of us wearing it when we had her one year pictures done. 🩷

Well, we’ve been keeping a pretty big secret.

Right after Sadie’s first seizure, and the week we had the flu (no Nyquil for me 🥲), we found out about this special surprise.

This morning we found out that a baby BROTHER will make his grand appearance late this summer!

It has been a WHIRLWIND the past two and a half months, but we couldn’t be more excited to be adding a little more blue to our clan. 💙

Sadie Jane is ONE silly goose!

So grateful to everyone who came to celebrate our silly girl this afternoon, and grateful to all those who decided to stay home because they were feeling under the weather and didn’t want to get her sick. 🥹

Sadie-girl is SET on toys for the foreseeable future. 😂

ONE YEAR of SJ 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷

this month Sadie has:
* clearly said “mama” “daddy” ”Ah-tea” (Ashley) “deer” along with a few more words 😭
* stayed in size 3 diapers but graduated to some 6-9M clothes
* taken six steps consecutively but slowed down on her walking progress in general (nasty ol’ medicines)
* changed to a new epilepsy medication, then added on a second daily medication and taken them both like a CHAMP twice each day
* had two more seizures and LOTS of doctor appointments, but continued to smile and giggle throughout it all
* popped her second tooth through
* celebrated her first birthday with adenovirus, rhinovirus, and seasonal non-Corona covid (a “big nasty cold”)

Today we weigh 17lbs and are 29in long!

Just a girl after her mama’s Mexican loving heart. 😅

For the first time in this process I haven’t gotten to take her regular monthly milestone pictures and I’m posting about it late, but yesterday morning Sadie had her third and longest seizure yet. These two pictures were taken approximately three hours apart. 😭

this month Sadie has:
* clearly said “mama” “daddy” and “doggy” along with a few nonsense words 🥹
* stayed in size 3 diapers and 3-6M clothes
* thought REALLY hard about taking some steps, but held herself back
* ridden in an ambulance TWO times
* been diagnosed with epilepsy and had a total of three tonic-clonic seizures in under a month, two while on medication
* rocked and rolled with her one toofer

Today we weigh 16lbs 4oz and are 28in long!

the end of a Christmas era 🥲

We finally celebrated Christmas this morning at our house!! Mama and Dada finally are feeling better and we’re so glad to have our Sadie-bug home. 🥹

Week 3!!! I can’t believe we’re four days away from SJ’s first Christmas! 🎅

Week 2 of the best Christmas season of my life. 🤍❤️💚

This week ended with a big scary seizure, an epilepsy diagnosis, and a new daily medication, but we’re home healthy and recovering now. Please keep SJ, Nick, and myself in your prayers over the coming weeks and months as they do further testing for our sweet girl and this new journey.

this month Sadie has:
* surprised us with all her silly new vocabulary 😂
* transitioned to size 3 diapers
* stood up on her own for a long time (I can see her debating the steps in her head)
* gone to meet all of our Tennessee family
* fell in love with Thanksgiving foods
* FINALLY broke a tooth - literally yesterday and it’s barely through but we definitely feel that sharp baby shark tooth

Today we weigh 15lbs 4oz and are 28in long!

this will be the most magical Christmas ever 🥹

this month Sadie has:
* “dadadadadadada” CONSTANTLY
* officially worn 3-6m in almost everything (just a few “real clothes” are still too big)
* still won’t sit down
* stood up UNASSISTED 😭😭
* been to the pumpkin patch and celebrated our first Halloween as Bo Peep’s cutest sheep 🥰
* gotten TIRED of my photography antics (this month was the most uncooperative she’s ever been)

Today we weigh 14lbs 8oz and are 27.5in long!

Emily is due the week of Thanksgiving and Brooke is due the week so Christmas so there was no chance we would get to celebrate all the upcoming holidays together like we typically do. So the gang all gathered tonight to celebrate before the new arrivals for our own holiday - Hallothanksmas Eve.

We celebrated Halloween in our costumes, ate Thanksgiving food potluck style, played Dirty Santa, and topped it all off with a New Years {grape juice} toast at 9pm.

PLUS we were able to pull off a surprise baby sprinkle to honor the Hererras! 🤍 (if you know me you know how huge it is that I kept this a secret the whole time!)

I’m so glad we were able to come together to celebrate the big adventures this life has gifted us. I’m so thankful to have these people in my corner!

this month Sadie has:
* scream-talked all the time - I mean this girl is never quiet
* slept almost every time we got in the car
* still worn our 0-3m clothes proudly (except for just a tiny bit of 3-6m sleepers and onesies)
* not liked to sit down ever… like won’t do it
* not been still (she even kicks her feet when she’s sleeping sometimes 🤣)
* finally been to visit all of our Florida family… now all that’s left is the Tennessee bunch of Garrisons

Today we weigh 13lbs 8oz and are 26.5in long!
